Electro permanent battery-powered lifting beam for Ingalls Shipbuilding (US)

At Ingalls Shipbuilding in Pascagoula (USA), MAGBAT-Europe recently delivered an innovative electro permanent battery-powered lifting beam. This system was designed to handle large steel plates safely and efficiently, with the following specifications:

• Length: 5,000 – 14,000 mm

• Width: 500 – 4,000 mm

• Minimum thickness: 5 mm

• Maximum weight: 12,000 kg

The lifting beam is built for outdoor use and can be operated both with an overhead crane and with a forklift truck.

What makes this solution unique?
The beam operates completely cable-free thanks to an integrated battery pack, which powers the magnet inverter. The actual holding force is generated by permanent magnets, ensuring maximum safety — even in case of power loss.
