What factors influence the lifting capacity?
The maximum safe lifting capacity depends on several technical variables:
- Material type: not all steel grades respond equally to magnetism.
- Material thickness: thicker materials provide better magnetic contact.
- Contact surface: flat, clean surfaces allow for stronger adhesion.
- Air gap: any space between the magnet and the workpiece reduces force. That’s why all systems are designed with a safety factor of 3:1 measured at a minimum 0.4 mm air gap.
